Sam Allardyce spent a very short time as the manager of the English national soccer team back in 2016, and many felt his brief tenure was summed up perfectly with the way he watched Sunday’s World Cup match between England and Panama.
Allardyce was spotted in a pub sitting by himself watching England’s dominant 6-1 win over Panama. He apparently brought his own lunch — a Big Mac — with him.

For those of you who don’t know the background, Allardyce was named England’s manager in July 2016. Roughly two months later, a video surfaced that showed him criticizing former manager Roy Hodgson and talking about how to circumvent regulations from The FA — England’s governing body for soccer — on transfer players. He left the team following the controversy and was replaced by current manager Gareth Southgate.
Given the way England looked on Sunday and the reaction from fans, very few people are missing the Allardyce era. Big Sam doesn’t seem too bothered, either.
