Twitter reacts to England dominating Panama at World Cup
Frustration stemming from years of coming up short at the World Cup appeared to come to a head for England on Sunday, as they absolutely demolished Panama in the group stage match between the two countries.
England cruised to a 6-1 victory, and five of the goals came before halftime. The six goals were the most by any team in the World Cup thus far, and the five-goal differential matched Russia’s 5-0 win over Saudi Arbia earlier in the tournament. The margin of victory was also a record for England in a World Cup match.
While Panama was just happy to be at the World Cup for the first time in its nation’s history, Twitter couldn’t resist mocking them over the 6-1 loss.

No disrespect but games such as England – Panama 6-1 & Russia – Saudi 5-0 shows why the 48 team World Cup is such a bad idea.

Congratulations to Panama on their win against England by the old rule of “last goal wins”, well in lads

HUMILIATION for Southgate's England as they become the first team ever to concede a World Cup finals goal to tiny Panama.

Harry Kane scored a hat trick in the match, giving him five goals through two matches. English fans were understandably excited about that.

Harry Kane has equalled Lionel Messi's total #WorldCup goal tally with 5 goals.
Lionel Messi has played 4 World Cups since 2006. Harry Kane has played 2 World Cup matches.

With the emphatic victory, England now have the same goal differential (six) as Beligum, and the two teams are set to meet in their third and final match of the group stages. The winner (of the match or tiebreakers in the event of a draw) will get the higher seed in the knockout stages.
