Hope Solo breaks down when learning of suspension (Video)
Hope Solo was in shock when she learned that U.S. Soccer has suspended her for six months and terminated her contract, and the moment the goalie found out was captured on video.
In a clip from the Fullscreen documentary series “Keeping Score” that was obtained by PEOPLE, Solo was shown fighting back tears as she gave her husband Jerramy Stevens the bad news.
“Six-month suspension, no pay, terminated contract, effective immediately” Solo said. “Terminated contract — not just a suspension. It’s bull. 17 f—ing years and its over.”
Here’s the video:
Solo was suspended for calling Sweden “cowards” for the way they played in their Olympic quarterfinal win over the U.S. The 35-year-old plans to appeal the ruling.
While a six-month suspension and terminated contract might sound harsh, keep in mind that this is not the first time U.S. Soccer has had problems with Solo. She was suspended 30 days last year for her involvement in her husband’s DUI arrest. She was also previously involved in a domestic violence dispute with her family.
