Mexico has first two goals called off because of offsides (GIFs)

Mexico-offsides

Mexico put the ball in the net multiple times early in its match against Cameroon, but there was nothing to show for it. Giovani Dos Santos scored twice in the first 30 minutes only two have both goals disallowed because players were ruled offsides.

The first was a bang-bang play. Dos Santos appeared to stay onside until the pass, which was perfectly placed, was in the air. The referee still raised his flag, drawing little opposition from Dos Santos.

The second disallowed goal, which came on a corner kick, was a bit more debatable. It appeared a Cameroon player who was guarding the post charged out late and missed a header, which allowed Dos Santos to score as the ball snuck through. Again, the official raised his flag.

Mexico finally took the lead around the 60th minute when Oribe Peralta scored on a rebound.

We’re only two days into the World Cup and already there has been some extremely questionable officiating. There will be plenty more as the tournament rolls on.
