Holger Rune has apparently slid into Anna Kalinskaya’s DMs one too many times, though the 22-year-old tennis star clearly does not see it that way.
During a recent interview with the First&Red channel, Kalinskaya was asked how often fellow tennis players try to land a date with her. Kalinskaya, who is 26, joked that it does not happen much anymore now that she has gotten older, though she said there have been a few players who were quite persistent.
Kalinskaya then mentioned how one player sent her about 10 messages via social media.
“Now I’m older. I don’t know, so for some it’s just no chance at all,” Kalinskaya said, via a subtitled translation. “No need to write. Someone wrote like 10 times and then gave up.”
Naturally, the interviewer wanted to know which player messaged Kalinskaya that many times. She said it was Rune and joked that he “thinks too much of himself.”
“He writes to everyone. He deserves all this, thinks too much of himself,” Kalinskaya said with a laugh. “Maybe he’s just that hopeless, but he’s not the only one.”

Many fans mocked Rune after Kalinskaya seemingly exposed him for shooting his shot. Rune then responded and suggested Kalinskaya misinterpreted his social media interactions as “an invitation to date.”
“Ha ha ha. We might have cultural differences that make Anna read a comment on a story as an invitation to a date. If I want to go on a date, I ask for a date. Don’t worry,” Rune wrote on X.

Kalinskaya had been dating Jannik Sinner before the two announced in May that they were no longer together. She also dated Nick Kyrgios, who once made a seemingly crude remark about his and Kalinskaya’s history.
If Rune was trying to land a date with Kalinskaya, he should probably give up now.
