Juan Martin del Potro robbed while signing autograph in Paris

juan-martin-del-potroJuan Martin del Potro was robbed on Saturday while signing an autograph inside a Paris train station.

Del Potro was taking a train from Paris to London after playing in the Paris Masters, where he lost to Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. According to USA Today, del Potro was inside the Paris’ Gare du Nord when he put down his suitcase to sign an autograph. His suitcase was stolen as he was signing.

“I was finishing the check-in and was asked for an autograph,” del Potro said in a statement, per USA Today “I turned around to sign it and within 20 seconds, it was stolen.”

Does that sound like a setup to you?

What really stinks is that del Potro lost some valuable belongings. He was robbed of his passport, money and more. The most important item he lost was a rosary blessed by Pope Francis, whom he met earlier this year. Del Potro said the rosary is what’s important to him, not the other stuff.

Del Potro is ranked No. 5 in the world and has won four tournaments this year.
