At 6-foot-8, Luka Doncic can dwarf non-basketball people, but not tennis legend Maria Sharapova.
Although Sharapova is several inches shorter than Doncic at 6-foot-2, she didn’t look diminutive in a photo taken with the superstar point guard following last Saturday’s game at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif., between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
That photo has gone viral, and led some to wonder about Sharapova’s height.
One fan on Instagram commented on Sharapova’s photo with Doncic, asking, “How tall is Maria???”
The five-time major champion apparently saw that question and jokingly responded,” tall,” along with an emoji.

While it was not a definitive answer, it was not incorrect, either.
Sharapova’s height was an asset for the now 38-year-old tennis great on the court and continues to be beneficial for her off it. For one, it allowed the former world No. 1 Sharapova to hit her serves harder. Moreover, she covered more space on the court because of her length.
Meanwhile, her towering figure has made it easier for the Russian star to land endorsement deals with big brands.
Of course, Sharapova was just messing with the fan, who could have easily Googled the answers to any other Sharapova-related questions.
