Mirra Andreeva briefly lost her cool during her French Open match on Wednesday and terrified a ball boy in the process.
Andreeva lost to Lois Boisson in straight sets during Wednesday’s quarterfinal, and struggled with both her play and the crowd. As a French player, Boisson was heavily favored by the Roland Garros partisans, and it seemed to get to Andreeva during the second set.
After making an unforced error on a return during the second set, Andreeva smashed a tennis ball in frustration, resulting in boos from the crowd. She also left the Roland Garros ball boy cowering in fear, as he briefly worried that she was about to drill the ball back at him.

Andreeva was understandably given a warning for her conduct. She went on to lose the set 6-3.
To her credit, Andreeva did not make excuses after the match, telling reporters that she did not blame the crowd for backing the French player and suggesting that she could learn from the experience moving forward.

That isn’t the first ball boy to find himself in the line of fire this year. It can be a hazardous job, but there are also plenty of perks that can come from the role.
Boisson will face Coco Gauff in Thursday’s semifinal after her win. It is her first major semifinal, and it comes after she entered the main draw as a wildcard.
