Patrick Mouratoglou describes Serena Williams’ incredible practice habits
Patrick Mouratoglou is Serena Williams’ coach as well as lover according to most accounts. The two have worked together for over three years, a span in which Williams has won seven majors.
As impressive as the seven majors and Olympic gold medal won under Mouratoglou’s guidance have been, what might be even more impressive are Serena’s practice habits.
Prior to the Wimbledon finals Saturday, ESPN’s Chris Fowler was setting the stage for the match and raved about Williams’ training. Fowler reported that Mouratoglou says in the entire time they’ve trained together, Williams has had maybe only 10 bad practices. He admires her work ethic, hunger and desire, which is impressive since she is nearing 34 — a very old age in professional tennis.
I don’t know about you, but I have just 10 bad days in life in a matter of months. For her to only have around 10 off days/bad practices in three years is pretty incredible. It also helps explain why Williams, whose training habits were problematic in the past, has had a heck of a resurgence late in her career.
