Serena Williams is no stranger to causing a controversy over her looks. In fact, it was only last week that a stalker was arrested for tracking her on twitter. Given that issue, it’s surprising to see that Serena has not shied away from sharing her life on the social media forum, as Greg Couch noted.
Serena proudly announced that she had posted a new avatar on her twitter profile Thursday. She took down the provocative photo shortly after posting it according to what we read at Hot Clicks, but upon last check it appears to be back up on her profile.
What’s crazy is how controversial Serena’s looks have become. Williams caused a storm with a marketing ad for the video game Top Spin 4 where she was playing tennis in lingerie. Then of course we had the time she talked about her big boobs and massive butt. And of course who can forget the time Serena Williams posed nude?
In addition to the twitter picture change, Serena grabbed headlines when it was announced that she would not be able to compete in the French Open because of injury. A lot of people are saddened by the news, but you have to figure her 2+ million twitter followers are probably more interested in provocative photos than they are about her tennis career. That’s sort of the way it’s become for her the past few years.
As for posting a photo like that, if she wants to put her body on display for the public that’s her decision, but she shouldn’t complain about stalking or tongue-wagging comments that accompany it. It’s kind of nice in a way that being scrutinized and stalked hasn’t stopped her from living her life the way she wants to.
