Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross shared some unfortunate news about his health on Thursday.
Ross said in a social media post that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer. The 73-year-old says he is scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future.
“Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support,” Ross wrote on X.

Ross has dealt with Bell’s palsy and other medical issues throughout his career. This is not his first battle with cancer, as Ross announced last year that he underwent surgery to remove cancer in his hip.
A few months later, Ross said he was admitted to a hospital for an unrelated issue, though he did not provide details.
Ross, one of the most recognizable voices in professional wrestling history, is currently an analyst and senior advisor with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He is best known for his work as a commentator for WWE across several decades, including the incredibly popular “Attitude Era” in the late-1990s and early-2000s.
Ross, known to many as “Good Ol’ JR,” was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
