That is, until I saw Madden Nation today on TV — a show where video gamers compete playing John Madden Football. I won’t even bother mentioning the channel that aired it, I’m not out to criticize them. I’m out to make fun of the show (and I realize the show was made in 2005 according to my TV guide, so I apologize if I’m late to the party).
So let me get this straight — you want me to watch TV to watch other people play video games? That’s almost as pathetic as people who play the SIMS computer game. Those losers are my favorite; they spend hours trying to improve the status of their virtual character, all the while the real person is sitting in front of a computer for hours on end, rotting away (but I AM a blogger, so my life isn’t much different, only I feign a belief that I am doing something to improve mankind).
I mean, it’s sad. They’re interviewing video gamers using something called the “coach cam.” Like — what was going on inside your head when you called the sweep instead of the draw? And, was that an intentional spin move, or did your finger slip on the controller to the X button? Just like he was stuck in a fight with a roomie on the Real World, one of the gamers responded
I wasn’t in a position, especially on 4th down to go from it on the 4 yard line so I did what any NFL coach would do, and I took the 3 points and hoped to win the coin toss in overtime.
Excuse me while I try to contain my laughter. Oh woops, HAHAHAHAHA. You have to be kidding me! It’s not just a video game to us they say. Oh yeah? What is it?
Ugh, I’ve had enough. I’m turning on the Dodger game before I join these gamers in loser-hood.

i thought it was a comedy at first…with all the shit-talking, i thought it was pretty funny. then i realized it wasn’t a comedy at all. and then i was sad. the end.
There aren’t enough ways to mock this show properly. They did a version with NBA Live where Scoop Jackson hosted.
(realizes he just got docked with a bunch of loser points for knowing that)
[...] I’m not one for watching a bunch of loser teenagers playing Madden on TV, I would love to watch Culpepper playing a game with 15 large on the line. Or even better, imagine [...]
