Astros take swipe at Dodgers on Twitter during blowout
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros treated us to one of the most exciting World Series battles in recent history last year, but Saturday night’s game was about as lopsided as it gets. You can’t blame the home fans for not wanting to stick around to see the finish, but that didn’t stop the defending champs from flexing their Twitter muscles.
The Dodgers appeared to be running out of chances when they were trailing 5-0 after seven innings, but Houston made them throw in the towel by putting up seven additional runs in the eighth. That’s when fans started to clear out of Dodger Stadium, and the Astros were happy to call attention to that.

Of course, there were many Dodger fans who took offense to that and pointed out that the Astros have historically had bad attendance.
Have the Dodgers ever been bottom 5 of the league in attendance? I know 2014 is a year or two before most of you became Astro fans, but it’s still relevant pic.twitter.com/N8dUZlkvBs

You are correct, my friend – even last year, Houston didn’t break the top half of the league in attendance. Since 2011, here’s their attendance rankings: 21, 25, 29, 28, 24, 20, and 17. In 3 of those seasons, the Astros had winning records, and the fans still didn’t come!

Blowouts like that are quite uncommon in baseball, and the thought of beating the traffic and getting home early in a situation like that is simply too much to pass up. The Astros have been doing quite a bit of trolling this season, and they’ve been backing it up quite well.
