Gregg Zaun goes off on Yordano Ventura over tweets about Jose Bautista (Video)

On Sunday, tempers flared between the Royals and Blue Jays as a result of Kansas City’s persistence to pitching inside. Afterward, Edinson Volquez blasted Josh Donaldson over his reactions during the game. Then, Jose Bautista tweeted he lost respect for Royals manager Ned Yost after catching word of his postgame comments. Yordano Ventura responded with a few tweets of his own (which have since been deleted) directed at Bautista.

Prior to Monday’s game between the Blue Jays and Twins, Rogers Sportsnet analyst Gregg Zaun had a few things to say to the Royals pitcher in the form of an open letter.

Among the highlights were the former big league catcher telling Ventura to “show some respect and stop writing checks with your mouth that your skinny ass can’t cash” and “stop acting Tommy Tough Guy while hiding behind the internet and a dozen teammates.” And the “grab a bat and man up, otherwise shutup” was basically Zaun’s way of dropping the mic at the end.

Yordano Ventura certainly hasn’t made many friends around Major League Baseball this season. He started a brawl between the Royals and White Sox back in April. He also got ejected for hitting Brett Lawrie with a pitch earlier that month. Ventura got into it with Mike Trout too.

Ventura removed the tweets from his timeline and apologized to the Blue Jays slugger. Whether anyone believes him is, of course, another story.
