Marlins Being Considered for Showtime’s ‘The Franchise’ Series

Is there even another option? Last year Showtime debuted a docuseries called “The Franchise.” The San Francisco Giants were the subject for the first season of the show, with cameras following them around after they won the World Series. According to the Miami Herald, the show has confirmed it will run a second season and is targeting the Miami Marlins.

Why not? There may not be a single person with more cinema value in the MLB than Ozzie Guillen.  Some of his former players have referred to life with Guillen as a reality show anyway, so why not add some cameras to the mix and make some money off it?  Ozzie has also been known to do insane things like French kiss his dog and rant about large boats, so he would be a natural fit for the show.

The Marlins are also moving into a new stadium, with new uniforms, in a new city, with a new roster.  Then there’s the whole Hanley Ramirez vs. Jose Reyes dilemma that may or may not affect the locker room at some point.  Any team other than Miami would be a disappointment for Showtime.
