A poll of MLB players has revealed a new pick for the most overrated player in the sport.

The Athletic’s annual MLB player poll showed that Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm was considered the most overrated player in the game. Chisholm received 20.3 percent of the vote, which comes out to 12 votes out of 59 respondents.

The Athletic noted in its story that many players were reluctant to respond to the question, not wanting to be too hard on their fellow players. Even among those who did respond, few wanted to explain their reasoning, though one suggested that Chisholm landing on the cover of last year’s “MLB The Show” video game was a factor in their vote.

Angels infielder Anthony Rendon came in second with 10.2 percent of the vote, while Carlos Correa of the Minnesota Twins landed at third. No other player received more than three votes.

The label might not necessarily stick to Chisholm, to be clear. Five years ago, Bryce Harper was the “winner” of this poll. He still received one vote in 2024, but pretty much nobody calls Harper overrated anymore.

The 26-year-old Chisholm is a career .246 hitter, with 19 home runs and 22 stolen bases to his credit in 2023. His reactions to certain plays might also turn some off, but his habit of exciting plays certainly garners him attention and fans.
