The Baltimore Orioles are not actively engaged in long-term contract extension talks with Manny Machado, the team’s GM said Sunday.
Orioles GM Dan Duquette joined MLB Network Radio on Sunday from the Winter Meetings and was asked about contract talks with the team’s stud third baseman.

Machado, 24, just completed arguably his finest season, as he smacked 37 homers and 40 doubles, good for an .876 OPS. The youngster is arbitration eligible the next two seasons, and then he becomes a free agent after 2018.
Baltimore would be wise to do everything possible to lock up this young star, but they do have time before they risk losing him to free agency.
