Terry Collins will let Yoenis Cespedes wear his hat backwards
There will be no hat-gate for the Mets after all.
Earlier on Thursday New York Post reporter Mike Puma said Mets manager Terry Collins had an issue with Yoenis Cespedes wearing his hat backwards around the batting cage. Puma also indicated Collins would say something to Cespedes about it.
Terry Collins is not a fan of Cespedes wearing his cap backwards around the cage like Griffey Jr., has or will mention it to Cespedes.

After the report came out, Collins was asked whether he would address it with Cespedes and said he would not.
“I’m not going to mess with it,” Collins said via ESPN New York. “In years past those kind of things start issues. And I’m going to ignore it.”
Cespedes confirmed that Collins had not talked to him about the cap. The outfielder also said that when he was acquired by the team last season, he asked whether wearing his hat backwards would be an issue and was told it would not be. He also said he would change if the manager wants him to.
It sounds like Cespedes has been respectful about the issue. It also seems wise of Collins to let it go when it’s such a small thing.
