At a time when ESPN has made the difficult decision to lay off dozens of well-known and lesser-known employees, Tim Tebow is safe.
ESPN announced on Monday that Tebow has signed a multiyear extension to continue working as an analyst for the SEC Network. Tebow has been with the Worldwide Leader since 2014.
“Over the last three years ESPN and the SEC Nation crew have become like family,” he said in a press release. “I love the passion that SEC fans bring to our set every Saturday morning and I look forward to continuing to share my own love of the game with fans on ESPN and SEC Network.”
Of course, Tebow is currently pursuing his dream of becoming a professional baseball player and has been playing for a minor league affiliate of the New York Mets. ESPN says Tebow’s responsibilities with the network will not prevent him from fulfilling his contract with the Columbia Fireflies or the Mets organization.
Tebow is hitting .242 with two homers and nine RBI in 26 minor league games. His first at-bat could not have possibly gone any better, but he has slowed down a bit since.
