Fans are worried that Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey may be having a mental breakdown.
Ivey posted a 75-minute-long video on Instagram of him sitting in his car while he read bible scriptures and made religious pleas to the youth. The post came just two days after Ivey similarly went live for 35 minutes to preach to his followers with a bible in his hand.
Several fans commented on his posts, with many believing him to be having some form of mental breakdown. Others called it religious psychosis. Ivey, who didn’t see anything wrong with what he was posting, responded to the fans expressing concern in his behavior.
To one fan who was “sending prayers” Ivey’s way, the former No. 5 overall pick replied with, “God does not hear your Prayer if you are a sinner.”
To another fan who said Ivey was wrongfully casting judgment onto others, the Bulls guard responded with, “You don’t judge righteously because you yourself are not righteous. You clearly have a speck in your eye so you can get a speck out of someone else’s eye.”

Those were just a few of several similar-sounding replies Ivey made to fans in his comments.
It’s entirely possible the Bulls youngster was simply showing off a religious side that fans are only now discovering. But it’s also possible that Ivey could be having a mental breakdown on social media like some other young prospects in recent memory.
Ivey could also feasibly be planning to follow in the footsteps of AJ Griffin, a fellow first-round pick in 2022 who gave up basketball for religious reasons.
Ivey has had a tumultuous career since the Detroit Pistons made him a top-5 pick. He went from a potential franchise cornerstone on a budding contender to an afterthought who got traded to the Bulls before this year’s trade deadline. His lingering injuries haven’t helped either, as Chicago has since ruled him out for the season due to a knee issue.
