Blake Griffin has been working hard, says he did not deserve a summer break

Blake-Griffin

Blake Griffin isn’t happy with how his previous season went, and he’s hard at work ensuring that it doesn’t happen again.

Griffin joined J.J. Redick’s “The Vertical” podcast recently and talked about his offseason, in which he’s taken about two weeks of vacation amidst an extensive workout program. He’s trying to steady himself after a difficult season that saw him deal with significant injuries and serve a team suspension for punching an equipment staffer.

“I took a week off after I had surgery and then started rehab a week after that, and I’ve been going all the way through,” Griffin said, via Rowan Kavner of the team’s official site. “I actually just got back from vacation, so I took a week off there, so basically two weeks this whole summer. I kind of had in my mind, I’m just going to go all the way through. In my mind, I didn’t deserve a summer break.”

Griffin has high hopes for the Clippers, and he feels they’re prepared to make a deep run.

“You have to be healthy,” Griffin said. “Guys have to be not just healthy like to where they can play or not, but healthy to play at 100 percent or close to 100 percent, because I don’t think anybody’s playing at 100 percent in the playoffs.

“This year I think our team is built for that run and built for that type of success. I’m excited.”

Griffin may not have taken much time off this summer, but he did find the time to try his hand at a new career path. It sounds like he’s very much committed to the basketball, though.
