D’Angelo Russell ex-girlfriend reportedly stole Nick Young video
Many people have been wondering two things concerning the infamous D’Angelo Russell video of Nick Young talking about cheating on Iggy Azalea: Where did it come from and how did it get out there?
We told you on Thursday that a dispute between Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj played a role in the video getting out there, but here is the full story.
Famelous, which first posted the video last week, explained Thursday that the video is “months old and was stolen by D’Angelo Russell’s ex-girlfriend.”

Russell reportedly was associated with Sasha Mandros previously. They appear to have broken up, because Russell’s new girlfriend is USC volleyball player Niki Withers. It is unclear if either woman had a role in this whole thing.
According to Famelous, the ex-girlfriend who took the video from Russell’s phone then supposedly uploaded that video to Snapchat. From there, someone on Minaj’s team apparently snagged the video (watch the original video here). The Minaj person may have been holding onto this video and waiting to use it at the right time to make Azalea look bad.
Many believe the person running the Gisele Bronx Twitter account, which is a Nicki Minaj fan page, is the one who had the video based on this tweet sent in February:
It’s unclear whether this person is just a hardcore Minaj fan or if they actually are business associates with Minaj. You’d be surprised how many tips are sent in to websites simply by hardcore fans looking to defend their favorite teams players/smear rivals, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the person were just a fan.
The next question is why the video came out last week.
The person holding onto the video apparently was a Minaj fan (or associate) waiting for the right time to leak it. Azalea was featured on an interview on Bravo TV last Wednesday on March 23. During that interview, Azalea was asked about an issue with Minaj. At the 2014 BET Awards, Minaj was accused of taking a shot at Azalea by suggesting Azalea doesn’t writer her own lyrics.
Iggy was asked by Bravo about writing lyrics and said that the writing credits on her albums are the same as on Minaj’s, implying that either both write theirs entirely or are getting the same assistance.

The suggestion from Azalea that Minaj might not write all her own lyrics apparently upset the Minaj fan/associate, who then sent Famelous the video of Young talking about cheating on Azalea as revenge. Famelous uploaded the video last week and it received some attention on social media.
The entire story then gained new life this week when ESPN reported that the video was causing problems in the Lakers’ locker room, essentially resulting in Russell being isolated by the team. Since then, the media pounced on the story, leading Russell, coach Byron Scott and Young to comment publicly on the matter.
The bottom line: Anything you record on your phone has the potential to get into the wrong hands and end up leaked onto the internet, so be careful about what you document, what you share, and with whom you share it.
