Hasheem Thabeet reportedly eyeing NBA comeback, several teams interested

The reclamation project to define all reclamation projects could be upon us in the 2016-17 NBA season.

According to a report by Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times on Thursday, former No. 2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet is pursuing an NBA comeback and is generating interest from several teams.

Thabeet’s Association tenure was nothing short of a spectacular letdown. Drafted ahead of the likes of James Harden, Stephen Curry, and DeMar DeRozan in 2009, he turned in career averages of 2.2 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game, bounced around on six different rosters, and was out of the league by 2014. The last we heard of Thabeet, he was embarrassing himself in a Summer League game.

Though a 7-foot-3 frame is always an asset, the league has gotten terrifyingly good at playing lumbering, one-dimensional big men off the floor completely. If Thabeet couldn’t make it back then, he probably doesn’t stand much of a chance of making it now.
