Kevin Johnson is accused of beating a man up after being hit with a pie to the face during a dinner on Wednesday, though there are differing reports about what actually happened.
The East Bay Express reports that the Sacramento mayor “tackled and assaulted the protester in a ‘bloody’ brawl” after being hit with a pie to the face during a dinner event.
The protester allegedly hit Johnson with a store-bought pie to the face and received the wrath of Johnson.

The East Bay Express described it like this: “This prompted [Johnson] to allegedly tackle the protester and punch him in the face “repeatedly,” more than half a dozen times, landing “five to 10″ blows.”
The dinner celebrated Sacramento’s Farm-to-Fork week and was held at Sacramento High School. About 200 students reportedly were in attendance.
Sacramento police have a different view of matters. In a statement, they characterized Johnson as the victim of an assault and said KJ helped restrain the assailant. They say the assailant, who was arrested, sustained only minor injuries.

Then there’s this, the other side of things:
I was at work but my husband witnessed the Mayor's pie-in-face incident. Says KJ had adrenaline flowing but many reports are overstated.

Johnson sent out this comment via Twitter:
Appreciate everyone. I'm doing fine. Thank you to Sac PD for being there. Be safe everyone.
