The Cavaliers defeated the Raptors to advance to the NBA Finals on Friday. However, during his postgame interview with Doris Burke, LeBron James wanted to talk about the fans in Toronto.
Some knew it prior to this year’s NBA playoffs, others didn’t. The Raptors have one of the best fan bases in the league and they showed it throughout the postseason. They were loud, enthusiastic, and stood behind their club to the very end. With Game 6 decided, and the starters for both teams off the floor, fans at Air Canada Centre chanted and showed appreciation for what was the best season in Raptors history.
After the game, James took a few moments to give a shoutout to and declare his respect for Raptors fans prior to answering Burke’s question.

The moment was a cool one indeed, made even more so by James acknowledging it without being prompted to do so. The Raptors set a franchise record for regular season wins and advanced to the conference finals for the first time. Despite falling to the Cavaliers, the Raptors have a lot to be proud of and their fans let them know as the season came to an end.
