Pacers reportedly offered Paul George for Kyrie Irving
The summer of missed opportunity continues for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the latest episode of “The Lowe Post” podcast, ESPN’s Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst said that the Indiana Pacers offered Paul George to Cleveland for Kyrie Irving “multiple times,” but the Cavs were not willing to make the trade.
In fairness to Cleveland, Irving is younger, under contract for longer, and had the benefit of continuity with the roster. They also reportedly came painfully close to landing George anyway without having to surrender Irving.
But now that Irving’s discontent has gone public, a process that may ultimately drag out for months, the Cavs have to be second-guessing themselves somewhat for not pulling the trigger, regardless of whether or not they already knew the extent of the All-Star guard’s malaise.
