Rex Chapman arrested for stealing and selling $14,000 worth of Apple goods

Rex Chapman

Former NBA player and Kentucky star Rex Chapman was arrested on Friday and accused of stealing $14,000 worth of goods from an Apple store in Scottsdale, according to reports.

Chapman, who earned just over $22 million during his playing career, is accused of stealing the products on seven different occasions. He allegedly would pretend like he was going through self-checkout and then not pay for the items. Chapman then allegedly sold the items for cash at a local pawnshop. Employees recognized Chapman because of his celebrity status, and the store told police about the alleged thefts in August.

Even with a plea deal, Chapman would probably face charges. He is currently facing nine counts of organized retail theft and five counts of trafficking in stolen property.

Chapman averaged 14.6 points per game during his 12-season playing career. He was drafted eight overall by the Hornets in 1988 and spent time with the Bullets and Heat before ending his career with the Phoenix Suns.

Sexy Rexy made headlines in April when, hours before his alma mater played in the NCAA National Championship Game, he said John Calipari was leaving for the Lakers.
