Steve Kerr: Steph Curry is not injured

steph-curry-warriors

Steph Curry was so bad during Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday that many were wondering whether he is still suffering effects from his knee injury, or something else.

Steve Kerr dismissed such talk.

After the Thunder blasted the Warriors 118-94, Kerr was forced to answer questions about the reigning MVP’s health.

“He’s not injured. He’s coming back from the knee,” Kerr said via SI’s Ben Golliver. “He just had a lousy night. It happens, even to the best players.”

Lousy is a good way to describe it. Curry scored 19 points on 6-for-20 shooting, including just 2-for-10 (20 percent) on threes. He had as many turnovers as field goals made. Many even noted his apparent lack of hustle/drive during the game and wondered what was wrong, especially after he missed a layup in the second half.

Questions about Curry’s health in light of the knee injury that led him to miss four playoff games need to be put into context. Curry still shot an impressive 50 percent from the field in consecutive victories over the Blazers after returning from the injury. He also shot 60 percent from the field in the Warriors’ Game 2 win over the Thunder.

Maybe this isn’t a matter of Curry still being injured, but rather about the way Oklahoma City is running circles around the Warriors. For those focusing on Curry’s level of play, what do you have to say about Draymond Green falling apart the last two games of the series? At some point you just need to credit OKC for their strong play.
