Terminix reaches out to Cavaliers after Kyrie Irving bed bugs encounter

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving played just nine minutes of the Cavaliers’ game on Sunday against the Thunder due to what was originally classified by the team as flu-like symptoms. As it turns out, bed bugs were to blame. To make sure such an instance doesn’t occur again, one of the largest pest control companies in the world reached out to the Cavaliers.

Terminix became aware of Irving’s encounter with the bed bugs and offered to keep the Cavaliers free of bites next time they are on the road. The following message appeared on the Facebook page of the company from the branch manager of the Cleveland office.

Dear Kyrie Irving, we have a message to share from our Cleveland branch manager.

“Hi Kyrie, we’re sorry to hear about your unfortunate bed bug experience in Oklahoma! We’re all huge, huge Cleveland Cavaliers fans here in my office so we want to help you out. Tell the Cavs to call me and I’ll arrange to have one of our best technicians accompany you and the team on your next road trip. We’ll inspect every hotel room and ensure they’re bed bug-free so you can sleep easy and focus on a deep playoff run. Go Cavs!”

-Terry Hughes, Branch Manager, Terminix

The Cavaliers play at home on Wednesday versus the the Hornets then hit the road for stops in Toronto to face the Raptors and Washington D.C for a game against the Wizards. While it probably won’t be necessary for Cleveland to take Terminix up on their offer, could you blame them if they had a technician go along just to be safe.

Hilton issued an apology on behalf of the hotel and pledged to ensure a repeat situation doesn’t occur. Thankfully for the Cavaliers, this was their only trip to Oklahoma City this season.
