Travis Hunter might not be able to strut his stuff on offense as much in 2026.

The Jacksonville Jaguars expect their two-way star Hunter to be a “full-time corner and a part-time receiver” next season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Thursday. Rapoport adds that Hunter is expected to be a full participant in training camp as he continues to recover from the LCL tear that ended his 2025 rookie season early.

Hunter, the 22-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner, got some meaningful work at wide receiver last season. During the seven games before his season-ending injury, Hunter saw 45 targets and caught 28 of them for 298 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Hunter’s snap count also weighed heavily in favor of the offensive side of the ball. Overall in 2025, Hunter saw 324 total snaps on offense and just 162 total snaps on defense.

But with Brian Thomas Jr. looking like a true WR1 for the Jaguars and Jakobi Meyers also getting a contract extension from the team several months ago, it appears that Hunter’s talents may be best utilized elsewhere. Now it seems that he will be featuring heavily as a cornerback, which could benefit a Jacksonville team that ranked just 21st in the NFL last year at defending the pass.

In the wake of Hunter’s injury last season, countless fans were calling for the Jaguars to choose just one position for the talented former No. 2 overall pick. Though we could still see Hunter get some snaps at wide receiver in 2026, it looks like he will be a dedicated cornerback for the foreseeable future.
