The megafight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas delivered for the fans on Saturday night. The fight featured two of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world and was very close based on most peoples’ opinions. The fight was scored a draw, but the real takeaway that had people talking was the scorecards. One judge had it as a draw, while another had it as a narrow win for GGG. But then you had Adalaide Byrd, who must have been watching on a different planet.
While Don Trella scored the fight 114-114 (six rounds apiece) and Dave Moretti had it 115-113 (seven rounds to five for Golovkin), Byrd had Canelo winning 118-110. That means she scored it 10 rounds to two. She gave Alvarez the last five rounds.
After the fight, even HBO was critical of Byrd, with announcer Jim Lampley calling her an “outlier.”

Fans and media personalities on Twitter were even more critical. Take a look at what people were saying:
118-110 for Canelo is one of the worst cards I have ever seen in my life seen turned in jesus man. FIRE THAT JUDGE

You never let me down, Adalaide Byrd. You never let me down.

I am taking a victory lap on this one. Been saying and writing all week that Adalaide Byrd was going to do this. Incredibly predictable.

That's obscene and absurd and boxing is such a joke.

The DRAW is not my issue the judge who had it 118-110 should now be out in witness protection!

118-110 for Canelo? Come on, man.

That should be Adalaide Byrd’s last fight. Period. Nevada has to take responsibility for that card.

Byrd’s scorecard was brutal and incomprehensible. How could it have been so off? Fans will want answers and just have to hope she won’t be scoring a potential rematch.
Keep in mind that Byrd has a reputation for being a poor judge. Top Rank Boxing has requested in the past that she not be a judge for their fights. Byrd has also been named by Bleacher Report as one of the worst MMA judges in history.
