Drake Stoops made his debut for the Sooners and caught his first career pass with Oklahoma up 35-0 on FAU during the second quarter.

According to an Oklahoma historian, Drake Stoops became the first true freshman walk-on to record a statistic in the Sooners’ opener.

That catch went for eight yards.
Drake Stoops was a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports. He had scholarship offers from Iowa, Air Force, Arkansas State and Ohio, in addition to Oklahoma, so it’s not as if he’s a sub-par athlete. He showed that in the opener.
