Doug Flutie loses both of his parents in same day
Boston College legend and former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie has lost both of his parents in the same day.
Steve Burton of WBZ TV in Boston reports that both Flutie’s mother and father died Wednesday. Flutie later said in a Facebook post that his father, Dick, had been ill and had a fatal heart attack, and his mother, Joan, also died of a heart attack.
“My Dad had been ill and died of a heart attack in the hospital and my Mom, less than an hour later had a sudden heart attack and passed away,” Flutie wrote. “They say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it.”
Flutie, who completed probably the most famous Hail Mary in history to beat Miami in 1984, modeled a throwback BC uniform earlier this week in anticipation of the Eagles’ big game against Notre Dame at Fenway park this weekend.
