If there’s one bright side to Matt Leinart not being on an NFL team, it’s that he’s able to support his alma mater on Saturdays. The USC Trojans took advantage of that by having their former Heisman Trophy winner lead the team onto the field before Saturday’s game against the Stanford Cardinal.
Leinart was as pumped as I’ve ever seen him. He got the team fired up, and it seemed to work — the Trojans scored on their first drive of the game, though they did miss the extra point and surrender a touchdown on the ensuing possession.
I went to UCLA but, speaking honestly, seeing Leinart out there even fired me up. If that was Ed Orgeron’s idea, it was a good one. I mean look at how hyped Leinart was:
