Michigan sent recruit Naseir Upshur’s girlfriend a letter

Hand-written letters are an effective way of recruiting high school players with a personal touch. A hand-written letter to a recruit’s girlfriend takes personalization to another level.

Jay Harbaugh, Michigan tight ends coach and Jim Harbaugh’s son, recently sent a letter to four-star tight end recruit Naseir Upshur’s better half. Harbaugh said lots of nice things about the young lady while also asking that she “keep (Upshur) in line” and encourage him to visit Ann Arbor again.

They say behind every great man is an even better woman, so this is actually a pretty clever approach from Harbaugh and company. We know the whole photoshop the recruit’s face onto a magazine cover bit is played out, as is sending this many letters to a high schooler in a single day.
