Mike Leach rips ‘pathetic’ Washington State after upset loss to Cal
Washington State’s College Football Playoff hopes were all but dashed Friday with an upset loss to Cal, and head coach Mike Leach was none too forgiving.
After the blowout 37-3 defeat, Leach ripped his team as “pathetic frontrunners” and said there was “no bright spot,” per the Seattle Times.

The Cougars entered Friday’s game 6-0 on the season and ranked No. 8 in the country. That made the manhandling at the hands of Cal, who came in with a record of 3-3 and zero total wins in conference play this season, all the more stunning. As for Leach, he has always been one to tell it like it is, and a dream-crushing rout by a mediocre opponent will certainly bring out that side of him.
