Shane Buechele makes strong case for Texas starting job
Freshman Shane Buechele made a strong case for the Texas Longhorns’ starting quarterback job with his performance in Saturday’s spring game.
Buechele went 22 of 41 for 299 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Program veteran Tyrone Swoopes was just 4 of 16 for 71 yards and two interceptions.
After the spring game, Longhorns coach Charlie Strong spoke positively about Buechele and indicated the freshman might even be the team’s starter when they open up against Notre Dame on Sept. 4.
