SMU to wear special Dallas skyline helmet decal to honor fallen police officers
The SMU football team will honor Dallas area police officers and first responders on Friday by wearing a custom decal on their helmets during their game against TCU.
The decal features the Dallas city skyline inside the SMU logo. Here’s what it will look like:

Dallas Police Chief David Brown is scheduled to attend the game and oversee the coin toss prior to kickoff. SMU coach Chad Morris spoke about the tribute this week.
“This will be a big game for us as we honor our local first-responders and pay tribute to them,” he said. “It’s an opportunity for us and our great city of Dallas to come together and lock arms and pay tribute to the lives that left us way too soon.”
SMU will hold a moment of silence before the game to honor Dallas Police officers Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith and Patrick Zamarripa, DART Officer Brent Thompson, SMU Officer Mark McCullers and University Park Fire Department Chief Bob Poynter. Police, firefighters and paramedics have all been offered four free tickets to the game, which can be claimed at the SMU ticket office.
