Steve Spurrier Doesn’t Want Any Fat People or Smokers on His Coaching Staff

January 18, 2012 by Steve DelVecchio • Comments

Either discrimination laws do not apply at the University of South Carolina, or Steve Spurrier may not find the assistant coaches he is looking for.  Anyone who wants to be a member of Spurrier’s staff is going to have to meet extremely specific criteria. Or they could easily just sue the University now after the way Spurrier was joking around on Wednesday. Have a look at these tweets that Gamecocks beat writer Josh Kendall sent out:

In addition, Kendall also said Spurrier would prefer married coaches over single ones. As Dr. Saturday pointed out, Spurrier has now put himself in a perfect position to be sued — whether he was joking or not.  Unless he hires the first fat, sloppy, unmarried cigarette-smoker he finds, candidates who are turned down have plenty of ammunition for a discrimination suit.  We’re happy he said it, however.  Why? Because it’s not our problem.
