Cowboys deny knowledge of incriminating Dez Bryant video

Dez-Bryant

If a video exists that has the potential to ruin Dez Bryant’s reputation, the Dallas Cowboys claim to have no knowledge of it.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones, Jerry Jones’ son, told FOX Sports Southwest on Monday that he has no idea what video Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk was referring to last week. Jerry Jones has also indicated that no such issue exists.

“Right now, as to our basic approach to all of the contracts that we’re considering negotiating, off-the-field issues are not a consideration in any situation with any player,” Jones said.

When discussing the alleged video, Florio said he has heard it could have a Ray Rice-like impact. In other words, whatever Bryant did would make him borderline unemployable. While we have no idea if the footage actually exists or is a complete fabrication, we do know that a report from several months ago indicated that the Cowboys are concerned about Bryant’s off-field behavior. The team also had special rules they required him to follow off the field as of last year.

The fact of the matter is the Cowboys still don’t appear to be making significant progress on a long-term extension for Bryant, and Bryant would likely sit out the offseason if the team decides to franchise tag him. If an incriminating video does exist, the Cowboys should work to uncover it as quickly as possible.
