Drew Rosenhaus dropping Johnny Manziel if QB does not get treatment
The working relationship between Drew Rosenhaus and Johnny Manziel may be a short one if the free agent quarterback does not seek immediate treatment.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rosenhaus has terminated his relationship with Manziel unless the quarterback goes to rehab within five days for his alcoholism.
“I have terminated the standard representation with Johnny Manziel in the hopes of helping him get the treatment I believe he needs,” Rosenhaus said via Schefter. “I have informed him that if he takes the immediate steps I have outlined for him that I will rescind the termination and continue to represent him. Otherwise the termination will become permanent. There is a five-day window for me to rescind the termination. I’m hoping he takes the necessary steps to get his life back on track.”
Manziel was dropped by his previous agent Erik Burkhardt in early February at a time when his football career was spinning out of control. That includes the domestic violence allegations Manziel is facing from his ex-girlfriend, going to Las Vegas and missing the Browns’ last game, as well as constant reports of partying. Manziel previously went to rehab last year for alcoholism and seemed to be a changed man at the start of the NFL season, but that fell apart months into the season after he lost the starting job.
Manziel is said to be currently living with former Browns teammate Josh Gordon, who has constantly failed drug tests and is similarly seeing his football career disappear. As if all that weren’t enough, Manziel was said to be a passenger in an alleged hit and run that took place over the weekend.
You know he’s in bad shape if his second agent in two months wants to drop him.
