Frank Gore still mad he fell short of rushing goals in 2015

Frank Gore

Frank Gore signed with the Indianapolis Colts last season with big dreams in mind. The veteran running back thought he would be a key missing piece for a team on the rise and help them make a Super Bowl push. Along the way, he was hoping to break a few poor Colts streaks. None of that happened, unfortunately, and that has Gore hungry for next season.

The soon-to-be 33-year-old rushed for 967 yards on 260 carries last season and was 33 yards shy of becoming the Colts’ first 1,000-yard rusher since 2007. He also was hoping to break the team’s streak of not having a back rush for 100 yards in a single game since 2012, but he was not able to accomplish that, either.

“I’m not over it,” Gore said to ESPN’s Mike Wells. “I’m not going to be over it until I do it. I’ve been blessed that they kept me to get the opportunity to do it again. To go after my goals again, to be the one to get the 100 yards that they didn’t have in years. To get that 1,000-plus yards [in a season].”

The Colts have Gore signed for $3.5 million this season, but he is likely to split carries. That means his hopes of reaching 1,000 yards may be difficult. So would the goal of rushing for 100 yards in a game, but if he breaks off a big run in a game, he might be able to top that.

Prior to joining the Colts, Gore had rushed for 1,000 yards in four straight seasons, and eight of 10 during his career.
