There is some unfortunate news for Jamaal Charles fantasy owners, and that is the Kansas City Chiefs running back may not be ready for Week 1.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Friday that Charles “is going to need a little time to work himself back” from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 5 last season. NFL players not named Adrian Peterson typically need a year to recover from a torn ACL, so the expectation would be for Charles to have another month to recover.
Though the Chiefs could push Charles to play early in the season, they will likely use a group of running backs to carry the ball until Charles proves he is ready for a full workload.
Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West can be expected to have big roles early in the season for Kansas City.
