Jerry Jones defends Greg Hardy over ‘guns blazing,’ Tom Brady wife comments

Jerry-Jones

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Hardy got off on the wrong foot with the media when he returned from suspension earlier this week. In addition to making some questionable comments about Tom Brady’s wife, Hardy also said he hopes to return to the field “guns blazing.”

While that is a common phrase people use, many felt it was insensitive of Hardy to say considering he was suspended for domestic violence and accused of throwing a woman on a bed covered in guns. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday that he doesn’t believe Hardy meant anything by it.

“Let’s look at it, does anybody really think what he was really alluding to in saying my guns are going to be blazing?” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan’s G-Bag Nation, as transcribed by Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. “I don’t know that this is the case, but when you see players and interview players, more often than not, they’re saying what their coach has just been saying to them all week. It’s a theme. This week we’re going to circle the wagons, this week we’re going to do this, this week we’re going to do that.

“I don’t know, and I haven’t even asked, but that very well could have been the theme for the week, let’s go out guns blazing. By the coach. You never know that.”

Jones added that he understands the “sensitivity” of the situation, but he also believes Hardy’s domestic violence incident was going to be a topic of conversation when he came back regardless.

Jerruh then went on to defend Hardy over the comments Hardy made about Gisele Brady.

“Well, Tom just happens to be married to a lady that’s absolutely one of the premier people in the world of working and making people say she’s beautiful,” Jones said. “Do you agree with me? That’s what they do. They get up in the morning and go to bed at night having people say she’s beautiful. So a lot of people when they talk about Tom Brady, they talk about how beautiful she is.”

Regardless of how beautiful Gisele is or what she does for work, many players believe you should never talk about another player’s family. Brady already gave his take on Hardy’s wisecrack. We’re not really surprised Jerruh tried to put out the flames.
