Michael Sam isn’t getting any bites from NFL teams, so he’s deciding to try out a new sport — dancing.
TMZ says Sam will be a contestant on the next season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which begins next month. It will be the 20th season of the show.
The show was targeting Rob Gronkowski for a spot, but it looks like they’re getting someone else with football ties.
Sam was released by the Dallas Cowboys in October and did not catch on with another team the rest of the season. A few months later he implied that he was not in the league because he is openly gay.
If you ask me, this is a death knell for Sam’s NFL career. Teams were already concerned about the attention Sam draws. Going on a popular dancing show will only bring him more attention and make it harder for him to just be another player.
