Mike McCarthy not committing to Aaron Rodgers if Packers are eliminated
The Green Bay Packers brought Aaron Rodgers back from his collarbone injury as soon as they could to give themselves a better shot a the playoffs. But if they get eliminated from the postseason, would they continue to run Rodgers out there at quarterback? It’s not so certain.
Packers head coach said after the team’s 31-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers Sunday that he hasn’t decided on Rodgers’ future.
Mike McCarthy wouldn't say if Aaron Rodgers would continue to play if the Packers are eliminated from the playoff race. "Let's focus on today," McCarthy said. "We'll get back and assess it." https://t.co/oAdF3UOBab pic.twitter.com/DHQF1ABXDp

Rodgers was also non-committal.
Aaron Rodgers on whether he will play next week: "I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow and go from there." He wouldn't say whether being eliminated from the playoffs would change that. https://t.co/vQ9WnoKc9l pic.twitter.com/TPIq1VdleZ

The Packers are understandably concerned about Rodgers re-breaking his collarbone given that it’s not fully healed. If the playoffs are no longer on the line for the 7-7 club, it would make a lot of sense for Green Bay to go back to Brett Hundley and give him more chances to develop rather than to risk Rodgers’ health in a wasted season.
