San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman suffered a gruesome leg injury on a crucial play during the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse caught a pass at around the 2-yard line and fumbled. Bowman clearly recovered the fumble, but someone was able to wrestle it away from him under the pile.
Bowman was likely in a lot of pain, which led to a Seahawks player being able to tear the ball out of his arm. Fortunately for San Francisco, the Seahawks went for it on fourth down and Marshawn Lynch fumbled on the very next play.

Recovery of a loose ball in the field of play is not reviewable. If the play occurred in the end zone, the officials would have been able to look at it again and would have realized Bowman had possession.

Bowman was carted off the field.
