Dan is right about the Dogs, too. They get the Raiders out of the way while the stadium is full and the team still has hope. You don’t want to see a late season Oakland game.

I guess the best explanation is what you said Dan — opening weekend they’ll get great ratings, you would figure. And that SF/Arizona game was horrible!

No team can be on prime time more than 6 times a year. With NBC getting flex scheduling and the fact NE is still pretty good the odds are NE is gonna het their 6. Plus every team is guaranteed 1 prime time game. So Oakland will get theirs. Man, the NE haters crack me up. Get a life. Plus remember this is opening weekend, when the ratings are always good no matter who is playing. Last year SF/Arizona opened on the 2nd MNF game.

I think this is just part of the flex scheduling. The NFL still has some rules about how often a team appears on prime time which is why you don’t see the team that outside of last year, always gets the best ratings…the cowboys.

Get some of the dog teams out of the way early and free it up for the big boys to get more prime time exposure later in the year.

Besides having a QB that is a deadbeat dad and a coach that resorts to cheating – this was in the Boston Globe this a.m.:

Q: I have been under the impression that Brady is a big part of the off-season work out program and I have been seeing pictures of him running around Europe with Gisele. What’s up with that? I would think after the way the season ended he would be front and center in the weight room, not at fashion shows. I hope I am wrong but it seems like he is losing his focus that has made him great in the past. What are your thoughts?

A: I was surprised to see the pictures myself, Eric. In the grand scheme of things, I don’t think it will be a huge deal once the season begins – and Brady will probably still be one of the offseason award winners, meeting the required attendance – but I would say that it didn’t look good. Despite the fact it’s voluntary; I have bought in to the importance of the offseason program over the years, mainly because members of the Patriots – from players, to coaches, to management – have said as much. It’s a time to build chemistry and camaraderie in the locker room. Brady is a captain of the team and its top leader, and while I think his focus will be sharp and he’ll put in the necessary work to be ready for 2008 — I wasn’t expecting to see those pictures of him during the first week of the program.
