Ryan Fitzpatrick has torn ligaments in his thumb
Ryan Fitzpatrick has torn ligaments in his thumb and could miss some time for the New York Jets as a result.
Fitzpatrick was hurt after scrambling on the team’s first offensive possession Sunday against the Oakland Raiders and was replaced by Geno Smith. Though he was on the sidelines for most of the game, he did re-enter the game late after Smith took a big hit.
Following the game, Jets head coach Todd Bowles said Fitzpatrick suffered torn ligaments in his thumb and will have an MRI Monday.
The Jets were so concerned about Fitzpatrick’s condition that Pro Football Talk reported the team already began making calls about potential quarterbacks during the Raiders game.
Per source, Jets already are making calls about potential quarterbacks who may be available to be signed or traded.
