Tashard Choice Asks for Mike Vick’s Autograph … on the Field

If you ever find yourself watching Mike Vick in absolute awe, fear not, because you are not alone. Apparently opposing players feel the exact same way. So much so that they can’t wait to get his autograph … even after losing to the man! Check out Tashard Choice asking Vick for his Herbie Hancock after the Sunday night game:

This isn’t the first time we’ve encountered situations of athletes being too friendly with the opponent on the field like that, and it’s embarrassing. If you’re going to subjugate yourself like that, at least do it off the field and send over a locker room attendant or something. This is exactly why I like what Joey Votto said. Oh yeah, and we also learned exactly what Mike Vick and LeBron James have in common. Save it for the locker room, Tashard.

Choice has an organization where he auctions off signed gloves that go towards charity. Why they let amateurs like you run a website is beyond me….Nice Report

What a dumb comment. First of all LBS is one of the most succesful independent sports blogs on the internet. Check the stats across the board.

Secondly if that really is the case of why Choice wanted the autograph then fine I can buy that. But, why wait this long to get the autograph? If he wanted it for charity reasons why not inquire sometime in the past 2 years when he’s been in the NFL. If it was that important he would have found a way to get this favor from Vick a long time ago.

Haha, thanks Chad. Charity or not, wrong time and place.

Herbie Hancock, the jazz artist? or John Hancock, maybe I’m just a little confused…

Got his Herbie Hancock? As in jazz artist Herbie Hancock? or Got his John Hancock? maybe I’m a little confused or this is a new thing…if it is let me know, I must be a little behind the time…

I just have a slightly different perspective on the situation… It’s true that Tashard shouldn’t have done that on their home field against a divisional rival after they blew a game that they could have won.
But let’s at least understand where Tashard is coming from, which is probably the most interesting side of things. Vick is a dazzling football specimen. Tashard had previously been benched by the Cowwboys, who are out of the playoff race. Tashard’s rookie season was 08… Where is Tashard from? Georgia. He went to GTech. And what’s Georgia’s team especially throughout the early 2000’s? Atlanta Falcons/Mike Vick… Tashard is an opportunist! haha

Tony, you are right on target. It is, of course, John Hancock, whose signature on the Declaration of Independence was so large that King George could read it without his glasses.

  • Gene

You are correct about wrong time, wrong place. Choice was playing his college ball in the Atlanta area (Georgia Tech, maybe) when Vick was the QB of the Falcons, and was his idol. That is probably why he sought him out, but he should have done it in privacy.

Vick was not very popular in the past couple of years. This might have been Choice’s first shot at him since his career was resurrected. If the gloves were to be auctioned, they would have gone for a lot less in the past than they would today. See my other comment about another reason why he may have wanted the autograph. I agree with LB about picking a more discreet place to do it – away from TV cameras.
